Polyacrylamide (PAM), commonly known as flocculant or coagulant, is categorized into cationic and anionic types, with a molecular weight ranging from 4 to 18 million. The product appears as white or slightly yellow powder in solid form and as a colorless viscous colloid in liquid form. It is easily soluble in water and decomposes when the temperature exceeds 120°C.
It adsorbs and bridges suspended particles in solution, exhibiting strong flocculation effects. Therefore, it is widely used in water treatment, as well as in metallurgy, papermaking, petroleum, chemical industry, textiles, mineral processing, and other fields.
Polyacrylamide is classified into: anionic, cationic, and non-ionic types.
Anionic types are mainly used for domestic and industrial water production, as well as industrial and urban wastewater treatment. They are also suitable for the flocculation sedimentation and mud-liquid separation of red mud during alumina preparation. Cationic types have a relatively high molecular weight and are primarily used for the flocculation sedimentation of aqueous suspensions and suspended matter. Flocculation is difficult in acidic or slightly acidic solutions containing organic suspended matter. In such cases, cationic polyacrylamide can effectively perform flocculation sedimentation, demonstrating outstanding performance. It is used in the form of a 0.1-0.2% aqueous solution, which must be prepared with water at pH ≤ 7. After dilution, the solution is highly prone to hydrolysis. It should be prepared for immediate use or used on the same day and is not suitable for long-term storage.
1. Advantages: When used for wastewater treatment, PAM offers high removal efficiency of organic matter in water, requires low dosage, achieves fast sedimentation speed, and has low water production costs, making it an irreplaceable product compared to other flocculants.
2. Usage: PAM can be used alone for water treatment or in combination with PAC. However, the stirring of the two must be conducted separately. The amount of water for dilution and the dosage should be determined based on specific conditions.
3. This product is packaged with an inner plastic bag and an outer plastic composite woven bag, with a net weight of 25 kg per bag.
4. Attention: Protect from moisture, avoid packaging damage, and store in a clean and dry environment.
