Product Characteristics: One end of its structure contains active groups capable of reacting with synthetic resin molecules such as epoxy, phenolic, polyester, etc., such as amino groups, vinyl groups, etc. The other end consists of alkoxy groups (e.g., methoxy, ethoxy) or chlorine atoms bonded to silicon. These groups, in the presence of moisture in aqueous solutions or air, hydrolyze to form reactive silanols that can react with hydroxyl groups on the surfaces of glass, minerals, and inorganic fillers. Commonly used in systems filled with silicates such as epoxy, phenolic, and polyester resins. Also used in the production of fiberglass to enhance mechanical strength and resistance to humid environments.
