Product Characteristics:
⚫ Suitable for use in two-component polyurethane systems, also applicable to: alkyd, polyester, acrylate, self-crosslinking acrylate, and epoxy-based binder systems for crosslinking.
⚫ Reactive silicone surface additive for solvent-based and solvent-free systems. This additive aligns on the coating surface, where its primary hydroxyl groups react with the binder, anchoring it to the coating surface.
⚫ It is suitable for two-component polyurethane systems. Compared to conventional non-reactive silicone leveling agents, it provides superior surface properties (such as improved slip, solvent resistance, weather resistance, anti-blocking, and reduced dust accumulation) because it crosslinks to the coating surface via its reactive groups. In rubber coatings, it can serve as a powerful slip-enhancing hand-feel agent.
⚫ Reduces surface tension, thereby improving substrate wetting. It enhances leveling and prevents Benard cell formation.
⚫ When applied in coating systems where reactive groups crosslink into the polymer network, note: the film surface must be carefully and uniformly sanded before recoating to ensure adequate adhesion.
⚫ In exterior coatings, the additive (along with the outermost resin) will be lost from the coating surface relatively quickly due to normal atmospheric aging processes.
Application: Can be added at any stage of the production process, or post-added. Dosage (as supplied) is 0.1-5% based on the total formulation.
