Properties: White cubic crystals or powder. Relative density 2.2 (25/4°C). Loses water of crystallization when heated to 200°C, decomposes into calcium carbonate and calcium oxide upon ignition. Insoluble in water and acetic acid, soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid or dilute nitric acid.
