1. Product Features

Flow Velocity Measurement

The OTT MFpro portable electromagnetic flowmeter utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction for flow velocity and discharge measurement. The sensor emits electromagnetic waves in water, creating a magnetic field around the probe. The flow velocity of water passing through the magnetic field is proportional to the voltage change of the probe. The voltage change reflects the flow speed, and the velocity value is then obtained through the microprocessor inside the probe.

Water Depth Measurement

The OTT MFpro has a built-in pressure sensor for measuring the position of the riverbed and indicating the correct flow measurement depth. The measurement range for water depth is 0-3.05m.

Discharge Calculation

The measured flow velocity values are calculated into vertical average velocity using standard methods. The instrument uses this average velocity and the measured vertical depth to calculate the discharge between verticals separately, and finally accumulates it into the cross-sectional discharge. Standard methods can also be used for pipe flow calculation.

The calculation methods for average velocity and discharge both comply with relevant international standards.
