DBE is a mixture of dibasic acid esters, primarily composed of dimethyl succinate CH3OOC(CH2)2COOCH3, dimethyl glutarate CH3OOC(CH2)3COOCH3, and dimethyl adipate CH3OOC(CH2)4COOCH3. It is a non-toxic, colorless transparent liquid with a slight aromatic odor, serving as an environmentally friendly high-boiling-point solvent that is biodegradable. It is widely used in the coatings industry (universal solvent for coatings) and other fields.

Main Applications:

It is extensively used in coil coatings, baking paints, tin printing coatings, automotive coatings, wood coatings, ink industry, resin industry, insulating varnishes, electrical and metal furniture paints, among others. Additionally, it can be used as a cleaning agent, paint remover, foundry core binder, flux in the electronics industry, and as an intermediate in organic synthesis.

1. Coil Coatings: DBE helps maintain a balanced evaporation rate, avoiding defects such as film blisters due to rapid evaporation and over-baking. It imparts a smooth appearance to the coating film, improves toughness and post-processing performance, and enhances pigment hiding power.

2. Baking Paint Industry: DBE has unique volatility; its evaporation rate increases more rapidly with rising temperatures compared to other solvents. This means it evaporates slowly in the initial stage and quickly in the later stage, which is more conducive to drying.

3. Container/Can Coatings: DBE can effectively replace solvents like isophorone, propylene glycol ethers, and ethyl cellosolve acetate in container and can coatings. Its high solvency and low evaporation rate contribute to excellent leveling of the coating, improving flexibility, adhesion, and other key properties.

4. Automotive Coatings: It can be used in various automotive coatings and different resin systems. It is applicable in primers and topcoats to achieve ideal gloss on the film surface, enhance fullness, and improve wetting, leveling, and reflow properties when a small amount of DBE is added to the formulation.

5. Enamel Wire Coatings: DBE is an excellent solvent for coatings formulations based on polyvinyl butyral, polyvinyl formal, polyurethane, polyester, and polyesteramide. In polyester and polyesteramide systems, it can completely replace cresol. Using DBE allows for high-solid, low-viscosity resins, and its non-corrosive nature significantly reduces storage difficulties for users.

6. Wood Coatings: DBE has a wide boiling range and a large buffer interval, offering greater flexibility and selectivity in solvent formulations and application conditions. It helps regulate evaporation rates, improve leveling, and prevent surface defects such as blushing and pinholing.

7. Ink Industry: DBE replaces highly toxic and strong-smelling high-boiling solvents like isophorone in inks.

8. Resin Industry: DBE has low viscosity, which can reduce resin viscosity without lowering molecular weight or solid content. Alternatively, it allows for higher solid content while maintaining the same viscosity. This characteristic enables the production of high-solid, low-viscosity resins.

9. Applications in Polymers and Chemical Intermediates: DBE can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. Polycondensation reactions can produce a wide variety of polyesters and other polymers, and it also serves as a raw material for producing chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and initiators.

10. DBE is ideally applied in cleaning agents, paint removers, and industrial cleaning.

Storage:

Storing DBE does not require special precautions. It can be stored in general iron drum containers, as it is non-corrosive, non-photochemically reactive, classified as a non-hazardous substance, and has low flammability, categorized as non-flammable.

Packaging and Transportation: Packed in 200L iron drums or plastic drums; 1000L IBC drums; flexitanks; isotanks; or as per customer requirements. Transported according to general liquid requirements.
