It appears as white crystals, is easily soluble in water and methanol, and is collectively referred to as catechin compounds along with epigallocatechin (EGC), catechin gallate (CG), epicatechin gallate (ECG), and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It is an isomer of catechin.
