The 1586A can operate in four different modes: Scan, Monitor, Measure, or as a digital multimeter. Scanning involves sequential measurements of channels based on user-defined settings. Monitoring allows observing a single channel during scanning without interrupting the process. Measuring enables recording data from a single channel without requiring configuration. The Digital Multimeter (DMM) mode functions like a standard multimeter, allowing quick front-panel measurements of DC voltage, current, and 2-wire or 4-wire resistance without any setup.
