Industrial boilers and kilns generate a certain amount of flue gas during fuel combustion. The removal of nitrogen oxides from the flue gas requires denitrification processes, which generally include SCR, SNCR, polymer denitrification, etc. Among these, the SNCR denitrification process is a selective non-catalytic reduction technology, serving as an end-of-pipe treatment method for removing nitrogen oxides (NOX) from flue gas.
The SNCR nitrogen oxide removal denitrification equipment differs from the SCR denitrification process in that SNCR does not use any catalyst. However, it requires a reducing agent containing amino groups (typically urea or ammonia). From a safety perspective, the SNCR urea denitrification process is generally preferred. The flue gas interacts withthe hydrolyzed urea reducing agent to produce ammonia, which then reacts with nitrogen oxides in the flue gas to form nitrates.This process reduces the generated NOX into N2, thereby removing NOX nitrogen oxide emissions from boiler and kiln flue gas.
