The emergence of the AS9100D certification standard stems from the common needs of organizations in the aerospace industry and their suppliers. The globalization of the aerospace industry, along with differences in regional/national requirements and expectations, presents severe challenges to aerospace organizations and their suppliers.

On one hand, an organization must deal with numerous suppliers and faces the challenge of ensuring the procurement of high-quality products from suppliers around the world and across various levels of the supply chain, as well as standardizing procurement requirements.
