IATF16949, fully known as the Automotive Industry Quality Management System Certification, is a technical specification for the international automotive industry. This specification is based on ISO9001 and incorporates specific technical requirements of the automotive industry, fully aligning with the ISO9001:2015 standard. Its focus is on defect prevention, aiming to reduce potential quality variations and waste in the automotive parts supply chain.

The IATF16949:2016 standard was released on October 1, 2016, marking a significant milestone in the development of management system standards for the automotive industry. Typically, this standard is revised every 6 to 8 years.

Please note: The TS16949:2009 standard was an automotive management system standard based on ISO9001:2008. With the release of the ISO9001:2015 version, ISO/TS16949 was officially renamed to IATF16949.

The enterprise must hold valid business licenses and other relevant operational qualification documents.

2. Establishment of a Documented Quality Management System

The enterprise needs to establish a documented quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the IATF16949 standard, including a quality manual, procedural documents, work instructions, etc.

3. Operation of the Quality Management System

The quality management system must be effectively operated within the enterprise for a certain period, generally requiring at least 3 months, to demonstrate the system's stability and effectiveness.

3. Provision of Relevant Evidence

The enterprise must be able to provide records and evidence related to the operation of the quality management system, such as internal audit records, management review records, product inspection records, etc., to prove compliance with the certification standards.
