　　Main Uses

　　Pharmaceutical Intermediates:

　　It is the parent core structure of many natural alkaloids, such as morphine, codeine (analgesic), papaverine (vasodilator), berberine (antibacterial, berberine), etc. These drugs can be prepared through the synthesis of isoquinoline derivatives.

　　Synthesis of antimalarials, antihypertensives, antitumor drugs, etc., such as isoquinolinone compounds which possess anticancer activity.

　　Dye and Fragrance Industry:

　　Synthesis of cyanine dyes (used in photography, laser dyes), acid dyes (used for dyeing wool and silk).

　　Some isoquinoline derivatives possess special aromas and are used in compounding fragrances or as fragrance stabilizers.

　　Organic Synthesis Reagents:

　　Acting as ligands to form complexes with metal ions (such as palladium, rhodium) to catalyze coupling reactions (such as the Heck reaction, Suzuki reaction).

　　Used as solvents for certain organic reactions (such as nucleophilic substitution at high temperatures) due to good stability and strong solubility for organic substances.

　　Other Fields:

　　Used for the preparation of insecticides and fungicides (e.g., isoquinoline compounds have inhibitory effects on agricultural pests);

　　Used as analytical reagents for the detection of metal ions (e.g., determination of zinc and cadmium by colorimetry through complex formation).
