Application Fields

Cosmetics and Personal Care:

Emulsification and Thickening: As a base for W/O emulsions, it enhances the stability and consistency of creams and lotions; for example, BASF Kolliwax® SA is used for thickening oil-in-water emulsions.

Moisturizing and Lubricating: Imparts a soft and smooth feel to the skin, commonly found in products such as hand creams and shampoos.

Pharmaceutical Industry:

Pharmaceutical Excipients: Used as an ointment base or suppository lubricant, or in sustained-release preparations (e.g., oxycodone hydrochloride sustained-release tablets) to control drug release rates through melt granulation.

Drug Synthesis: Used as an intermediate for the preparation of pharmaceutical ingredients such as antioxidant 1076.

Industrial Uses:

Plastics and Coatings: Used as a plasticizer to improve the flexibility of plastics, or as a coating diluent to adjust viscosity.

Textiles and Leather: Used as an auxiliary agent to enhance the softness and gloss of fibers.

Eco-friendly Materials: Used as a raw material in biodegradable plastics, for example, in the preparation of starch-polyvinyl alcohol dual-degradable films, which can achieve both biological and photodegradation within 4-5 months.
