　　Main Uses

　　Isooctanoic acid and its derivatives are widely used due to their low volatility, good solubility, and stability brought about by their branched-chain structure:

　　Metal soap raw materials: Metal soaps formed by isooctanoic acid and metals (Zn, Co, Ca, Pb, etc.) constitute the most important application field:

　　Cobalt isooctanoate, Manganese isooctanoate: Used as driers for coatings (e.g., alkyd resin paints) to promote oxidative cross-linking of the paint film and accelerate drying.

　　Zinc isooctanoate: Used in plastic stabilizers (e.g., PVC heat stabilizers), rubber vulcanization accelerators, or as preservatives in cosmetics.

　　Calcium isooctanoate: Used as a lubricant additive (anti-wear, anti-rust) or as a feed additive (supplementing calcium).

　　Ester intermediates: Isoctanoate esters (e.g., esters with ethylene glycol, pentaerythritol) can be used as plasticizers (substituting phthalates), synthetic lubricants (high-temperature resistant, low volatility), and emollients in cosmetics.
