Organic Synthesis Intermediate:

Synthesis of Esters: Isobutyrate esters (such as methyl isobutyrate, ethyl isobutyrate, and benzyl isobutyrate) produced by reaction with alcohols are important fragrances with fruity notes like apple, strawberry, and pineapple. They are widely used in food additives (e.g., beverages, candies, pastries) and cosmetic fragrances.

Synthesis of Pharmaceuticals: Used as an intermediate in the preparation of certain antibiotics and sedatives (e.g., isobutyrate-based drugs can improve the lipid solubility of drugs, enhancing their efficacy).

Solvents and Auxiliaries:

As a polar solvent, it is used to dissolve resins (such as acrylic resins) in coatings and inks.
