Main Uses

Surfactant Synthesis:

It is a core raw material for the preparation of cationic surfactants, for example:

Reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce dodecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (1227 surfactant), used for sterilization and disinfection, fabric softening, and antistatic treatment.

Reacts with ethylene oxide to produce tertiary amine oxides, used as foaming agents and emulsifiers, widely applied in the detergent and cosmetics industries.

Pharmaceutical and Pesticide Intermediates:

It can be used as a raw material to synthesize antihistamine drugs and local anesthetics, or as an intermediate for the preparation of insecticides and herbicides, imparting specific biological activities to compounds through derivatization reactions of the amino group.

Other Industrial Applications:

As an extractant, used for the separation and purification of rare metal ions (e.g., extracting gold, platinum, etc., from ore leaching solutions).

Used as a dye leveling agent in the textile industry to improve dyeing uniformity; used as a component of waste paper deinking agents in the paper industry.
