Main Applications
Natural Gas and Oil Field Gas Dehydration:
Triethylene glycol is the preferred solvent for natural gas dehydration due to its high boiling point, strong hygroscopicity, and low energy consumption for regeneration. It can form hydrogen bonds with water in natural gas, removing moisture via absorption to achieve the dryness (dew point requirements) necessary for pipeline transportation or processing.
Solvent and Extractant:
As a high-boiling-point solvent, it is used to dissolve organic substances such as oils, resins, dyes, and fragrances, and is widely applied in the ink, coating, and cosmetics industries.
Used for the extraction and separation of aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., extracting benzene and toluene from petroleum fractions).
Chemical Raw Material:
Used in the synthesis of polyether polyols (for producing polyurethane foams and elastomers), plasticizers (such as triethylene glycol dibenzoate), surfactants, etc.
Used as an intermediate in the preparation of high-energy fuels and explosives.
Other Applications:
Used as a stationary liquid in gas chromatography for the separation and analysis of organic compounds.
Due to its high boiling point and moderate viscosity, it can serve as a high-temperature heat transfer fluid (heat transfer medium).
Used as a lubricant and softening agent in the textile industry to improve the processing performance of fibers.
