Main Uses

Pharmaceutical Synthesis:

As an intermediate for cephalosporin antibiotics: In the synthesis of cephalosporins (such as cefazolin and ceftezole), 1H-tetrazole is used to construct the 7-position side chain, enhancing the antibacterial activity and stability of the drugs;

Intermediate for antiviral drugs: Its derivatives can inhibit viral replication (such as influenza viruses) and are used in the research and development of antiviral drugs;

Metal chelating agent: It coordinates with metal ions (such as zinc and copper) and is used in the preparation of metal-based drugs or diagnostic reagents.

Materials Field:

Additive for high-energy materials: The tetrazole ring has a high nitrogen content, and its derivatives (such as 5-aminotetrazole) can be used to prepare explosives and propellants, reducing smoke pollution;

Monomer for polymer materials: Introduced into polymer chains through substitution reactions, imparting properties such as antibacterial and flame retardant characteristics to the materials.

Organic Synthesis:

Protecting group: Used as a carboxyl protecting group in peptide synthesis, featuring mild reaction conditions and easy removal;

Ligand: Forms complexes with transition metals (such as palladium and platinum) and participates as a catalyst in coupling reactions, cyclization reactions, etc.
