T7 RNA Polymerase is a highly specific RNA polymerase derived from bacteriophage T7. This enzyme is encoded by T7 phage DNA. It synthesizes RNA complementary to the single-stranded DNA downstream of the T7 promoter sequence, using double-stranded DNA containing the T7 promoter sequence as a template and NTPs as substrates. The enzyme exhibits high specificity for the T7 promoter sequence and does not recognize promoters from other biological sources.
