I. Introduction:
The TD42 thermodynamic disc steam trap has a disc inside, which serves as both the sensitive component and the actuation component. When the device starts up, cooling condensate appears in the pipeline. The condensate pushes the disc open by the working pressure and is discharged quickly. When the condensate is completely discharged, steam enters the trap. The volume of steam expands rapidly, and the flow rate of steam is higher than that of condensate, creating a pressure difference between the upper and lower parts of the disc. The disc closes rapidly under the suction of the steam flow. When the disc is closed, it is subjected to pressure from both sides. The force-bearing area below the disc is smaller than that above it. Since the pressure inside the steam chamber of the trap comes from the steam pressure, the force on the upper side of the disc is greater than that on the lower side, so the disc closes tightly. When the steam inside the steam chamber of the trap cools down and turns into condensate, the pressure inside the steam chamber disappears. The condensate pushes the disc open by the working pressure and continues to be discharged. This forms a cyclic operation with intermittent drainage.
