HONG KONG, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks dropped on Friday, led by losses of heavyweights like HSBC and China Mobile.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 34.14 points, or 0.16 percent, to close at 21,071.57 points, after trading between a day high of 21,205.68 points and a day low of 21,012.51 points.
Turnover totaled 57.69 billion HK dollars (7.42 billion US dollars), compared with Thursday's 67.83 billion HK dollars.
The H-Share Index jumped 44.31 points, or 0.38 percent, to end at 11,641.33 points.
Banking giant HSBC edged down 0.5 percent to close at 79.6 HK dollars. China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier, moved down 1.84 percent, to end at 82.55 HK dollars.
Major mainland lenders performed well. ICBC, China's largest bank by market value, moved up 0.18 percent to close at 5.7 HK dollars; CCB, the country's second largest lender by market capitalization, edged up 0.77 percent to close at 6.55 HK dollars; BOC, one of the "big four", increased 0.25 percent to 4.03 HK dollars.
China Life, one of the world's largest life insurers by market value, dipped 0.45 percent to end at 33.45 HK dollars.
PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer, dropped 0.46 percent to 8.61 HK dollars; Sinopec, China's top refiner, increased 0.49 percent to 6.14 HK dollars. (One US dollar is equivalent to 7.77 HK dollars)
