China is allocating a significant amount of money to stimulate consumption. The Ministry of Commerce says total subsidies to stimulate consumption in the internal trade and service industries is expected to exceed 80 billion yuan.
80 percent of the capital will be borne by the central government, and the rest by local governments. But the central government will be fully responsible for subsidies in the five autonomous regions, as well as earthquake-affected Wenchuan and Yushu.
Consumption policies have not only driven domestic demand, but also facilitated energy conservation and emission reduction.
