Triethylenetetramine
Other Products
Main Uses
Epoxy Resin Curing Agent:
This is its primary use. Triethylenetetramine serves as a room temperature or medium temperature curing agent, undergoing a ring-opening reaction with the epoxy groups in epoxy resins to form a three-dimensional cross-linked structure, thereby curing the resin. The cured product possesses good mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation, and is widely used in coatings, adhesives, composites, casting compounds, and other fields. Compared with other amine curing agents, it has a moderate curing speed and a longer pot life (approximately 30-60 minutes).
Chelating Agent and Metal Treatment:
Utilizing its strong chelating ability for metal ions, it can act as an extractant for heavy metal ions (such as copper, lead, mercury) or as a chelating dispersant in water treatment, used for industrial wastewater treatment or metal surface cleaning.
In the electroplating industry, it is used as an additive to improve coating uniformity and enhance the adhesion between the coating and the substrate.
Organic Synthesis Intermediate:
Used for synthesizing high-molecular-weight materials such as polyamide resins and polyimide resins. These materials feature high-temperature resistance and aging resistance, and are used in aerospace, electronics, and other fields.
Synthesizing surfactants (such as cationic surfactants), used in detergents, emulsifiers, or antistatic agents.
Preparing corrosion inhibitors by adsorbing onto metal surfaces to form a protective film, preventing metal corrosion (e.g., used in oil pipelines, boilers, etc.).
Other Applications:
Used as a catalyst in the synthesis of polyurethane foam to promote the reaction between isocyanates and polyols.
Used to prepare lubricant additives, improving the oxidation resistance and detergency of oils.
Acts as a gas purifying agent to absorb acidic gases such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from natural gas or syngas.
