Cassia seeds are the dried mature seeds of the annual leguminous herb Cassia obtusifolia or Cassia tora. Cassia seeds are also known as grass cassia, sheep's eye, sheep's horn, horse hoof cassia, huantongzi, dog dung bean, false mung bean, horse hoof seed, thousand-mile light, celery cassia, sheep horn bean, wild green bean, pig bone cassia, pig dung blue bean, slender pig dung bean, night pull seed, and sheep tail bean. They have a bitter and sweet taste with a cool nature, and possess properties such as clearing liver fire, dispelling wind dampness, benefiting the kidneys and improving eyesight, and aiding in weight loss.
