Sodium Tridecanoate (Sodium Oxide Salt)

Sodium Tridecanoate, also known as Methyl Sodium Oxide Salt:

Tridecanoic acid adduct complex, featuring advantages such as non-toxicity, pollution-free, and strong detergency. Sodium tridecanoate also exhibits properties like bleaching, emulsification, sterilization, washing, and excellent water solubility.

It is an inorganic salt, appearing as a white granular powder. Its aqueous solution is alkaline and hydrolyzes into tridecanoic acid and sodium oxide when dissolved in water.

Sodium tridecanoate is commonly used as an additive in high-grade detergent powders or phosphate-free detergent powders. Due to its superior detergency, it can be used to formulate foam-free spray degreasing powders and has bleaching and ash-removing effects. During the cleaning process, it effectively increases dissolved oxygen, thereby reducing bacterial growth. Compared to other additives like sodium tripolyphosphate, its advantages lie in storage stability and excellent compatibility with other powder components, making it unparalleled and irreplaceable. Chemically, the fundamental difference is that sodium tridecanoate exists as an adduct compound, whereas other inorganic salts are products of straight-chain carbon bonds. However, due to its tendency to hydrolyze easily in water, it is challenging to formulate liquid detergents. Nonetheless, some industry practitioners are attempting to incorporate protective components to develop liquid detergents.
