【Product Applications】
1. Mainly used in the production of plasticizers such as n-butyl esters of phthalic acid, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, and phosphoric acid, which are widely used in various plastic and rubber products. It is also a raw material in organic synthesis for producing butyraldehyde, butyric acid, butylamine, and butyl lactate. Additionally, it serves as a dehydrating agent, demulsifier, and extractant for oils, pharmaceuticals (such as antibiotics, hormones, and vitamins), and fragrances, as well as an additive in alkyd resin coatings. It can also be used as a solvent for organic dyes and printing inks, a dewaxing agent, and for the separation of sodium chloride and lithium chloride. It is used to wash sodium zinc uranyl acetate precipitates. In colorimetric analysis, it is employed in the molybdate method for determining arsenic acid. It is used for determining fat in milk, as a medium for saponifying esters, and in the preparation of paraffin-embedded materials for microscopic analysis. It serves as a solvent for fats, waxes, resins, shellac, gums, etc., and as a co-solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers.
2. Standard substance for chromatographic analysis. Used in the colorimetric determination of arsenic acid and as a solvent for separating potassium, sodium, lithium, and chlorates.
3. An important solvent widely used in the production of urea-formaldehyde resins, cellulose resins, alkyd resins, and coatings. It is also commonly used as an inactive diluent in adhesives. As a significant chemical raw material, it is used to produce plasticizers such as dibutyl phthalate, aliphatic dicarboxylic acid esters, and phosphate esters. It also functions as a dehydrating agent, demulsifier, extractant for oils, fragrances, antibiotics, hormones, vitamins, etc., an additive in alkyd resin coatings, and a co-solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers.
4. Solvent in cosmetics. Primarily used as a co-solvent in cosmetics such as nail polish, complementing main solvents like ethyl acetate to aid in the dissolution of colorants and regulate the solvent's evaporation rate and viscosity. The typical addition amount is around 10%.
5. Can be used as a defoamer in ink formulation for screen printing.
