Cathode rapping hammer

In electrostatic precipitators (ESP), the cathode rapping hammer is a core component for removing dust accumulated on the surface of the cathode system (corona electrode). The ESP uses the cathode to generate corona discharge, which charges the dust particles. The charged dust is then adsorbed by the anode plates. However, dust also adheres to the surface of the cathode wires (such as spike wires, star wires). If not removed in time, this can lead to weakened corona discharge and a sharp drop in dust removal efficiency. The function of the cathode rapping hammer is to mechanically vibrate the cathode wires, causing the dust on their surface to fall into the hopper, ensuring stable corona discharge performance of the cathode system. 

Core Function and System Positioning of the Cathode Rapping Hammer The cathode system is the "charging core" of the electrostatic precipitator, and its surface cleanliness directly determines the corona current intensity and dust charging efficiency. The core functions of the cathode rapping hammer can be summarized as: 

1. Efficient Dust Removal: Through periodic rapping (typically at a frequency of 1-3 times per minute), it shakes off the dust (especially fine and sticky dust) adhering to the surface of the cathode wires, preventing "corona quenching due to thickened dust layers."

 2. Protecting Cathode Wires: The rapping force must be precisely controlled—it must achieve dust removal while avoiding excessive force that could cause deformation or breakage of the cathode wires (such as bending of spike wire tips).

 3. Stabilizing Dust Removal Efficiency: Maintaining the cleanliness of the cathode system ensures stable corona discharge and prevents a decline in dust removal efficiency due to dust accumulation (e.g., efficiency dropping from 99% to below 90%).
