Introduction to the Main Structure of Pulverized Coal Filter

In the pulverized coal conveying system of blast furnace coal injection in steel plants, the pulverized coal filter produced by Xiangye is a key equipment to ensure the stable operation of the system. The following is a detailed introduction about it:

 • Function and Principle ◦ Function: The pulverized coal filter is mainly used to filter out coarse and large particles, as well as impurities such as woven fibers and wood chips in the pulverized coal, ensuring smooth pneumatic conveying of pulverized coal, preventing clogging of distributors, lances, and valves on branch pipes, and guaranteeing continuous and stable coal injection. 

 Principle: When the coal powder containing impurities enters the double-cone filter, turbulence is formed due to the sudden change in the flow channel cross-section. Large particles of impurities settle after impacting the diversion baffle due to inertia, achieving primary filtration. Then, the pulverized coal passes through the honeycomb filter plate, where fibers and fine particles are trapped on the surface of the filter plate, completing fine filtration. The purified pulverized coal then enters the downstream pipeline.

 • Structural Features ◦ Main Structure: Usually made of carbon steel, it generally adopts a double-cone butt-welded structure. This design ensures stable airflow inside the entire shell, facilitating the smooth passage of pulverized coal, reducing flow resistance, and minimizing wear. Both sides of the filter are flanged for easy installation and dismantling. 

 Filter Plate: The middle part consists of a wear-resistant manganese steel filter plate, although ceramic composite plates are also used in some cases. The filter plate is designed to be removable for easy maintenance and replacement.  • Technical Parameters ◦ Applicable Medium: Pulverized coal + nitrogen or air. ◦ Design Temperature: Generally 100°C. ◦ Design Pressure: Common values include 1.0MPa, 1.6MPa, and 2.5MPa. ◦ Filtration Area: Usually greater than or equal to 4 times the cross-sectional area of the inlet main pipe. ◦ Nominal Diameter: Available in various specifications such as DN40, DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100, DN125, and DN150. • Installation Location: The pulverized coal filter is installed after the air supplement regulator on the main coal injection pipeline at the outlet of the injection tank. This allows for effective filtration of the pulverized coal before it enters the distributor and lance, ensuring the normal operation of downstream equipment.

 • Maintenance Points ◦ Regular Inspection: Check the sealing of the filter to ensure there is no air leakage; inspect the wear level of the filter plate and replace it promptly if severely worn. ◦ Cleaning Impurities: Regularly clean the impurities in the dust collection chamber at the bottom of the filter. Online dust cleaning or offline maintenance can be selected based on actual conditions. ◦ Component Check: Inspect components such as the diversion baffle for damage or deformation, and repair or replace them promptly if issues are found.
