The quality of the cast iron and heat treatment of the surface plate significantly impact its performance: residual stress may cause deformation of the working surface; poor wear resistance may prevent maintaining accuracy; or difficulty in scraping may result in inadequate surface roughness. Therefore, when using cast iron surface plates, attention must be paid to the selection of pig iron materials and methods such as aging treatment to eliminate residual stress.
Secrets to Extending the Lifespan of Cast Iron Surface Plates:
1. To prevent deformation of the cast iron surface plate, when hoisting it, use four steel cables of the same length to simultaneously attach to the four lifting holes on the plate, ensuring it is lifted steadily onto the transport vehicle.
2. Properly support and level the cast iron surface plate with垫块 (support points), ensuring each support point bears weight evenly and the entire plate remains stable.
3. During installation, use adjustable shims to垫好 and secure each support point of the cast iron surface plate. A professional technician should adjust the plate to meet the required accuracy.
4. When using the cast iron surface plate, handle workpieces gently and avoid moving rough workpieces on the plate to prevent impacts, scratches, or other damage to the working surface.
5. To prevent overall deformation of the cast iron surface plate, remove workpieces after use to avoid prolonged pressure that could cause deformation.
6. When the cast iron surface plate is not in use, promptly clean the working surface, apply a layer of anti-rust oil, cover it with anti-rust paper, and use the plate's outer packaging to protect it from accidental damage.
7. Install the cast iron surface plate in a well-ventilated, dry environment, away from heat sources, corrosive gases, and corrosive liquids.
8. Perform regular periodic inspections of the cast iron surface plate according to national standards, with calibration cycles ranging from 6 to 12 months depending on specific conditions. The surface of the plate is sealed with plastic film, suitable for inland transport, providing good protection against moisture, shock, rust, and rough handling to ensure safe delivery to the site.
Transportation of Cast Iron: Transportation is a critical factor in ensuring the plate does not deform. Therefore, when transporting the plate, avoid overloading, speeding, fatigued driving, and transporting under adverse weather conditions.
