The full name of steel-plastic geogrid is steel-plastic composite geogrid. It is made by processing high-strength steel wires (or other fibers) with special treatment, combining them with polyethylene (PE), and adding other additives. Through extrusion, it forms a composite high-strength tensile strip. If the surface has rough embossed patterns, it becomes a high-strength reinforced geostrip. These individual strips are then arranged longitudinally and transversely at certain intervals through weaving or clamping, and their intersections are welded using a specially reinforced adhesive fusion welding technology to form the reinforced geogrid.
1. The tensile force of the steel-plastic composite geogrid is borne by the high-strength steel wires woven in the warp and weft directions. It exhibits a high tensile modulus under low strain conditions, and the longitudinal and transverse ribs work synergistically to enhance the interlocking effect of the grid on the soil.
2. The longitudinal and transverse ribs of the steel-plastic composite geogrid are woven into a mesh with steel wires in the warp and weft directions. The outer coating is formed in one step, allowing the steel wires and the outer coating to function in coordination. The elongation at break is very low (not more than 3%). The main load-bearing units of the steel-plastic composite geogrid are the steel wires, resulting in low creep deformation.
3. Through the treatment of the plastic surface during production, rough patterns are pressed to enhance the surface roughness of the grid, thereby increasing the friction coefficient between the steel-plastic composite geogrid and the soil.
4. The width of the steel-plastic composite geogrid can reach up to 6 meters, making it simple and economical to use.
5. The high-density polyethylene used in the steel-plastic composite geogrid ensures that it remains unaffected by acids, alkalis, salt solutions, or oils at room temperature. It is also resistant to water dissolution or microbial attack. Additionally, the polymer properties of polyethylene enable it to resist aging caused by radiation. When the grid is under load, the longitudinal and transverse ribs work together, preventing the nodes from cracking or breaking. In practical engineering applications, after the compaction of fill materials, it is not exposed to ultraviolet light and oxygen, thus meeting the requirements of permanent engineering construction.
