Adipic acid

Adipic acid, also known as fatty acid, is an important organic dicarboxylic acid. The structural formula of adipic acid produced by domestic manufacturers is HOOC(CH2)4COOH. It can undergo salt formation reactions, esterification reactions, amidation reactions, and can polycondense with diamines or diols to form high molecular polymers. Properties:
1. Solubility: Adipic acid is soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol.
2. Melting point: The melting point of adipic acid is approximately 132-135 degrees Celsius.
3. Flammability: Adipic acid is a combustible substance, and its combustion products are carbon dioxide and water.
4. Acidity: Adipic acid has weak acidity and can react with bases to form corresponding salts.

Uses of adipic acid:

The primary use is as a raw material for nylon 66 and engineering plastics. Secondly, it is used in the production of various ester products, serving as plasticizers and high-grade lubricants. Additionally, adipic acid is used as a raw material for polyurethane elastomers, an acidulant for various foods and beverages, where its effects sometimes surpass those of citric acid and tartaric acid. Adipic acid is also a raw material for pharmaceuticals, yeast purification, insecticides, adhesives, synthetic leather, synthetic dyes, and fragrances.
