Dicyclopentadiene

Product Applications:

1. Used as the third component in ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber;

2. Serves as a raw material for the synthesis of ethylidene norbornene (ENB);

3. Reacts with maleic anhydride to produce norbornene dicarboxylic anhydride, which is used as an epoxy resin curing agent and as a raw material for polyester resins, alkyd resins, and pesticides;

4. The hexachloride of cyclopentadiene—hexachlorocyclopentadiene—reacts with maleic anhydride to form chlorendic anhydride, which is used as a flame retardant for synthetic resins;

5. Used in the modification of tung oil, linseed oil, soybean oil, fish oil, etc., to accelerate drying and improve water and alkali resistance;

6. Dicyclopentadiene resin can be used in rubber adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, hot-melt adhesives, inks, coatings, etc.;

7. Oxidized dicyclopentadiene can be used in injection molding and laminated resins;

8. Cyclopentene, obtained by partial hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene, is polymerized to produce 1,5-trans-polycyclopentene;

9. Cyclopentadiene is a raw material for the production of aldrin and dieldrin insecticides;

10. Cyclopentadiene is also used in pharmaceutical synthesis, such as the intermediate α-cyclopentadienyl methyl mandelate for the drug Gastrolong.
