First, let's talk about the surface thickness of the cast iron platform

When selecting a cast iron platform, the first thing to look at is the surface thickness of the platform. The thickness of the casting panel should not be too thin. The force of hammering means we cannot use a welding platform with too thin a panel. Additionally, under certain casting conditions, the minimum wall thickness that can be cast for cast iron platforms varies with different materials of gray cast iron. When the designed wall thickness is less than the minimum wall thickness of the cast iron platform, defects such as insufficient pouring and cold shuts are likely to occur in the cast iron platform casting.

Of course, the wall thickness of the cast iron platform increases proportionally. On the same cast iron platform, the inner wall thickness should be smaller than the outer wall thickness, and the rib thickness should be smaller than the connecting wall, so that the cooling speed of each part of the wall is uniform. Or when the cast iron plate bears a large load and requires high strength and stiffness, reinforcement ribs can be placed in weak areas according to the nature and size of the load to avoid large cross-sections.

The wall thickness of the cast iron platform should be as uniform as possible. If the wall thickness of different parts of the cast iron platform differs too much, metal accumulation will occur in the thick-walled areas, and during solidification and contraction, shrinkage cavities and porosity are likely to occur at the hot spots.

Moreover, since the body uses cast steel material, it increases the resistance of the cast iron mold to thermal expansion and contraction. Even if cracking occurs, it is easy to weld and repair the crack, allowing for repeated use and greatly extending the service life.

The interior of the cast iron platform plate should be designed with reinforcing ribs. The cast iron mold used for the cast iron platform includes several reinforcing ribs, which are respectively set at the bottom of the body corresponding to the bottom end of the casting groove, and the upper end of the reinforcing ribs is fixedly connected to the bottom of the body.
