Metribuzin
[Product Name] Metribuzin
[CAS Registry Number] 21087-64-9
[English Name]Metribuzin
[Alias] Methalpropazine; Sencor; 4-Amino-6-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-3-(methylthio)-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one, Sencor, Lexone
[Molecular Formula] C8H14N4OS
[Structural Formula]

[Use] Widely used in crops such as soybeans, potatoes, tomatoes, sugarcane, asparagus, and pineapple to control broadleaf weeds.
[Toxicity]  Low toxicity to humans and animals. Acute oral LD50 in rats is 1100-2300 mg/kg, acute dermal LD50 in rats is >20000 mg/kg. No abnormalities were observed in chronic toxicity tests. The no-observed-effect level (NOEL) for dogs and rats in a two-year feeding study was 100 mg/kg. Low toxicity to fish, aquatic organisms, birds, and bees.
[Characteristics] It is a systemic selective herbicide, mainly absorbed through the roots, but also through stems and leaves. It effectively controls annual broadleaf weeds and some annual grassy weeds, but is ineffective against perennial weeds. Efficacy is significantly influenced by soil type, organic matter content, humidity, and temperature, requiring strict application conditions. Improper use may result in inefficacy or phytotoxicity.
[Scope of Application]  Suitable for use in soybean, potato, tomato, alfalfa, asparagus, and sugarcane fields to control annual broadleaf weeds such as Polygonum, Amaranthus, Chenopodium, Brassica, Ixeris, Stellaria, Fagopyrum, Elsholtzia, Artemisia, Bidens, Setaria, Commelina, Xanthium, Solanum, Digitaria, Avena, and some annual grassy weeds.
[Application Method]
1. Use in soybean fields: Apply 53-76 grams of 70% wettable powder per mu with about 30 kg of water, evenly spraying the soil surface after sowing and before emergence for spring soybeans. For summer soybeans, use 33-57 grams of 70% wettable powder per mu after sowing and before emergence, with the same treatment as for spring soybeans.
2. Use in potato fields: Apply after sowing and before emergence, using 66-76 grams of 70% wettable powder per mu with 30 kg of water, evenly spraying the soil surface. If used after emergence, generally when potato plants are over 10 cm tall, tolerance decreases and phytotoxicity may occur.
[Precautions]
     1. In soybean fields, use only before emergence; use during the seedling stage may cause phytotoxicity.
     2. Not recommended for sandy soils with organic matter content below 2%.
     3. In regions with high temperatures and low organic matter content, use the lower application rate; use the higher rate in opposite conditions.
