The ACCESS Master MT9085 series Optical Time Domain Reflectometer is a compact, handheld, all-in-one tester for performing optical pulse testing, optical loss/power measurement, and fiber end-face inspection. It supports various applications, covering the installation and maintenance (I&M) of trunk optical fibers (core network, metropolitan area network, mobile fronthaul, mobile backhaul) and troubleshooting of access networks, such as breaks in distribution optical cables.
In addition to maintaining the intuitive operability of the previous MT9082 OTDR with hard keys and knobs, the MT9085 OTDR has been upgraded to an 8-inch color LCD wide touchscreen. The quick confirmation of the optical fiber transmission path advances the fiber visualizer function to the next stage.
Optical Pulse Testing (OTDR)
Optical pulse testing measures optical fiber transmission loss and fiber length, and detects events such as breaks in fiber continuity. The MT9085A-063 OTDR supports both single-mode and multi-mode fibers, and the product line includes wavelengths that match the measurement environment. The easy-to-use fiber visualizer function uses two types of real-time scanning (high speed, high S/N) to check the status of fiber connections and bends while testing waveforms; the MT9085C-053 can detect fiber events with high accuracy (46 dB dynamic range, 0.8 m dead zone) and measure loss. Waveform quality supports optical fiber measurements from short to long distances, including PON and real-time measurements.
Optical Power/Loss Measurement
The all-in-one MT9085 series OTDR has built-in light source, optical power, and loss measurement functions, allowing confirmation of optical fiber installation status and fault conditions, with an optical eye function for visual assessment of link loss.
Fiber End-Face Inspection
Fiber end-face inspection uses an external fiber microscope option (sold separately) to display the status of fiber connector end-faces on the MT9085 main unit screen. Since dirt and scratches on the end-face not only significantly impact the transmission quality of optical fiber circuits but also hinder accurate optical pulse testing and optical loss/power measurement, fiber end-face inspection is crucial.
