n-Propanol

n-Propanol (n-propanol) is a colorless transparent liquid with an odor similar to ethanol, soluble in water and ethanol. It is produced by the carbonylation synthesis of ethylene to propionaldehyde, followed by reduction.

Solubility: Miscible with water, and miscible with most organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers.
 
Uses: Propanol is directly used as a solvent or for synthesizing propyl acetate, applied in paint solvents, printing inks, cosmetics, etc. It is used to produce n-propylamine, an intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and pesticides, as well as in the production of feed additives, synthetic fragrances, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, propanol is used to produce probenecid, sodium valproate, erythromycin, valpromide, adhesive hemostatic agent BCA, prosultiamine, dipropyl 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylate, etc. Various esters synthesized from propanol are used in food additives, plasticizers, fragrances, and many other applications. Derivatives of n-propanol, especially di-n-propylamine, have numerous applications in the production of pharmaceuticals and pesticides, such as in the manufacture of the pesticides asulam, cycloate, isopropalin, vernolate, nitralin, trifluralin, etc.
