The main component of silicon carbide heating elements is SiC, with a firing temperature typically above 2200°C and an operating temperature usually between 900-1400°C. The normal continuous service life is generally over 2000 hours. They offer superior performance, including high operating temperature, excellent oxidation resistance, fast thermal conductivity, strong thermal radiation capability, low thermal expansion coefficient, high thermal efficiency, and low energy consumption.In terms of shape, they mainly include straight silicon carbide rods, U-type silicon carbide rods, equal-diameter silicon carbide rods, big-head rods/thick-end silicon carbide rods, H-type, h-type, threaded-type, gate-type, and other silicon carbide rods.They are simple to use, can be connected in parallel, series, or mixed configurations, and can be installed horizontally or vertically, making them commonly used heating elements in medium to high-temperature electric furnaces.

The resistance temperature parameter of silicon carbide rods is negative from constant temperature to around 850°C (i.e., resistance decreases as temperature rises) and positive above 850°C (i.e., resistance increases as temperature rises). Because the resistance of silicon carbide rods is relatively high at constant temperature and the ratio dispersion corresponding to high-temperature resistance is significant, the internal resistance measured with a multimeter at room temperature is not standard.
Resistance testing and grouping of silicon carbide rods should be based on high-temperature resistance (1050±50°C). When the surface temperature of the rod's heating section is relatively stable, the resistance can be calculated using Ohm's law from the measured voltage and current.
