Silicon carbide rods are non-metallic high-temperature heating elements that have long been used in the glass industry. In the glass container industry, the role of silicon carbide rods is to control cooling and homogenization. The so-called controlled cooling involves using the auxiliary heating of silicon carbide rods to uniformly cool the molten glass to the forming temperature. The homogenization effect is determined by the structure of the feeder channel and the heating of the silicon carbide rods. Using silicon carbide rods in the channel heats both the molten glass and the sidewalls, ensuring the temperature in each section of the feeder channel and supplementing the heat loss from the sidewalls.
Silicon carbide rods are generally evenly arranged above the molten glass in the feeder channel, maintaining a certain distance from the molten glass and radiating heat downward.
