Piperazine hexahydrate is mainly used in the production of anthelmintic drugs like piperazine phosphate and piperazine citrate, as well as fluphenazine, bucinnazine, and rifampicin. Piperazine hexahydrate is soluble in ethanol, and when mixed with glacial acetic acid and stirred under cooling, it precipitates piperazine acetate, which can be used in the synthesis of hormonal drugs such as prednisolone sodium phosphate. Piperazine hexahydrate is also used in the production of piperazine acetate, a pharmaceutical intermediate. Piperazine is also applied in the production of surfactants like wetting agents, emulsifiers, and dispersants, as well as antioxidants, preservatives, stabilizers, plastic processing aids, and rubber additives.
