Beryllium bronze, also known as beryllium copper, is a beryllium-containing copper-based alloy (Be 0.2～2.75% wt%). It is the most widely used among all beryllium alloys, accounting for over 70% of the world's beryllium consumption. Beryllium bronze is a precipitation-hardening alloy. After solution and aging treatment, it exhibits high strength, hardness, elastic limit, and fatigue limit, with low elastic hysteresis. It is also corrosion-resistant (beryllium bronze alloy corrosion rate in seawater: (1.1-1.4) × 10⁻² mm/year. Corrosion depth: (10.9-13.8) × 10⁻³ mm/year.). After corrosion, the strength and elongation of the beryllium bronze alloy remain unchanged, allowing it to last over 40 years in seawater. Beryllium copper alloy is an irreplaceable material for the structural bodies of submarine cable repeaters. In sulfuric acid media: beryllium bronze in sulfuric acid concentrations less than 80% (room temperature) has an annual corrosion depth of 0.0012-0.1175 mm; concentrations above 80% slightly accelerate corrosion. It features wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, non-magnetism, high electrical conductivity, and no spark upon impact. It also has good fluidity and the ability to reproduce fine patterns. Due to its many superior properties, beryllium copper alloy has gained widespread application in manufacturing.
