Introduction to Permalloy 1J50
1J50 soft magnetic alloy is a soft magnetic material characterized by high permeability, low remanence, and low coercivity. Its standard composition consists of approximately 50% Fe and 50% Ni. Due to its narrow and steep hysteresis loop, this alloy exhibits high permeability and low coercivity under weak magnetic fields, making it widely used in transformers, magnetic heads, aerospace precision control instruments, and other fields. Additionally, 1J50 alloy offers excellent workability, allowing it to be fabricated into components with complex shapes and precise dimensions, which is why it is often used as precision magnetic components in the aerospace sector.
1J50 soft magnetic alloy possesses high saturation magnetic induction and low coercivity. Among iron-nickel soft magnetic alloys, it has relatively low static permeability. The process performance of 1J50 soft magnetic alloy is stable, providing favorable conditions for mass production of parts with consistent magnetic properties. It is widely used in servo products, such as armatures, upper and lower magnetic conductors, cores, and other precision components.

Effect of Temperature Rise on Permalloy 1J50
When the temperature increases from -70°C to 170°C, the metallurgical structure of 1J50 soft magnetic alloy shows no significant changes, but its magnetic properties change noticeably. The initial permeability of the alloy increases significantly with rising temperature, while the maximum permeability increases with decreasing temperature below room temperature and remains largely unchanged above room temperature. The saturation magnetic induction, remanence, magnetic anisotropy constant, and coercivity of the alloy all decrease as the temperature rises.
Magnetic Properties of Permalloy 1J50
After heat treatment in a hydrogen atmosphere, the grains of 1J50 soft magnetic alloy become coarser, and its magnetic properties improve significantly. The magnetic properties of soft magnetic materials treated in a hydrogen protective atmosphere are superior to those treated in a low-vacuum environment.
After severe cold deformation, the grains of 1J50 soft magnetic alloy become significantly refined, with increased grain boundaries and stress, leading to a decline in magnetic properties.
Annealing Process of Permalloy 1J50
Through a series of process tests on 1J50 soft magnetic alloy specimens, it has been determined that vacuum annealing under a working vacuum of (3 to 7) × 10⁻³ Pa, cooling at 150°C/h to 600°C, followed by gas quenching and rapid cooling, yields optimal magnetic properties. Combined with specialized process equipment for parts, the surface quality, magnetic properties, and dimensional tolerances of the treated components meet product requirements. With the application of vacuum annealing for 1J50 soft magnetic alloy in production, product quality stability is improved, the production cycle for bright annealing is reduced, and manufacturing costs are saved. The above is an introduction to the material, properties, and processes of Permalloy 1J50.
