Reid's independently developed modular evaporative cooling type cold (hot) water unit adopts a system that simultaneously utilizes wet curtain paper + coil fins + water-fluorine condenser + water-
fluorine evaporator, using air and water as cold sources to achieve dual high efficiency for summer cooling and winter heating.
The unit integrates significant features such as energy saving, space saving, water conservation, flexible installation, corrosion resistance, durability, low engineering cost, and an aesthetically pleasing appearance. It is fully applicable to industries such as rail transit, chemical, power plants, metallurgy, machinery, electronics, hotels, hospitals, shopping malls, and office buildings.
II. Technical Features
1. Comparison of Air-Cooled, Water-Cooled, and Evaporative Cooling Units
1.1 Air-Cooled Units
Principle: Using air as the cooling medium, the flow of air carries away the condensation heat of the refrigerant. During operation, the fan forces air to pass over the surface of the heat exchanger,
causing the refrigerant inside the heat exchanger to condense from a high-temperature gaseous state to a medium-temperature liquid state; simultaneously, the air temperature rises and is discharged into the atmosphere by the fan. Advantages: Simple structure, easy installation, no need for cooling water.
Disadvantages: Poor heat exchange efficiency, high energy consumption, high noise from high-power fans, and large footprint.
1.2 Water-Cooled Units
Principle: Using water as the cooling medium, the flow of water carries away the condensation heat of the refrigerant. During operation, low-temperature cooling water enters the heat exchanger via a water pump,
causing the refrigerant inside the heat exchanger to condense from a high-temperature gaseous state to a medium-temperature liquid state; simultaneously, the cooling water temperature rises and enters the cooling tower for cooling, then re-enters the heat exchanger to complete the cycle.
Advantages: Better heat exchange efficiency than air-cooled units, moderate energy consumption.
Disadvantages: Prone to water splashing, high water consumption, complex installation of the cooling water system (cooling tower, cooling water pump, pipelines), and large footprint.
1.3 Evaporative Cooling Units
Principle: Using both water and air as cooling media, the flow of air and the evaporation of water carry away the condensation heat of the refrigerant. During operation, cooling water is delivered
via a water pump to the water distribution tray and evenly sprayed onto the surface of the wet curtain paper to form a continuous, uniform water film. Simultaneously, the fan forces air to pass over the surface of the wet curtain paper, promoting enhanced evaporation and heat absorption, causing the refrigerant in the finned coil and water-fluorine condenser to condense from a high-temperature gaseous state to a medium-temperature liquid state; the evaporated water vapor is discharged with the air, while unevaporated water drips into the water tank and forms a cooling water cycle via the water pump. The water tank is equipped with a float valve to automatically replenish water and maintain a stable water level.
Features: Heat exchange efficiency is better than both water-cooled and air-cooled units, offering high efficiency and energy savings; water consumption is 50% that of water-cooled units; compact structure and small footprint; significant energy, space, and water savings.
3. High Efficiency and Energy Savings
The overall energy efficiency ratio reaches up to 4.6, achieving 10% energy savings compared to water-cooled units and 25% energy savings compared to air-cooled units.
