The soil dynamic triaxial test system is primarily used for strength testing of axial pressure and lateral pressure in fine-grained soils, rocks, sand, and magma, as well as for soil dynamics testing. It can also be employed to measure the total shear strength parameters, effective shear strength parameters, and damping of fine-grained soils and sand.
By using 3 to 4 cylindrical specimens under different confining pressures (i.e., minor principal stress σ₃), dynamic axial pressure (i.e., principal stress difference (σ₁ - σ₃)) is applied to shear the specimens until failure, determining the soil's shear strength. Subsequently, based on the Mohr-Coulomb theory, the shear strength parameters—both total and effective—for fine-grained soils and sand are obtained.
