Testing Principle

Water Separation Characteristics Determination: Testing is conducted using a turbidimeter, mechanical stirrer, and filter. A portion of the sample is placed in a clean straight-neck flask, and the turbidimeter is adjusted to a value of 100 before discarding this sample and retaining the flask. Another portion of the sample in a plastic syringe is emulsified into an oil-water mixture using the stirrer, then passed through the filter in a specified manner, with the filtrate collected in the previously retained flask. Based on the amount of residual water, a transmittance value is obtained using the turbidimeter. The transmittance value can be expressed as MSEP-A or MSEP-B, and the final test result is reported as the nearest integer between 50 and 100. A higher value indicates that the fuel's water is more easily coalesced, meaning the fuel contains fewer surface-active substances.

Cleanliness Test: At a certain rate, a portion of the fuel sample is filtered through a coalescing filter, and the filtrate is collected in a straight-neck flask. The flask is then placed in the turbidimeter, and the turbidimeter is adjusted to a value of 100 as a reference standard. This portion of the processed sample is discarded, and another portion of the untreated sample is poured into the same flask and placed back into the turbidimeter. The value can be expressed as MSEP-C&B, and the final test result is reported as the nearest integer between 50 and 100. A higher value indicates a relatively low free water content in the fuel.
