A butterfly valve is a structurally simple regulating valve used for on/off control of low-pressure pipeline media. It features a closing element (disc or butterfly plate) in the shape of a disc that rotates around the valve shaft to open or close the flow.

This type of valve can be used to control the flow of various fluids, including air, water, steam, corrosive media, slurry, oil, liquid metal, and radioactive substances. It primarily serves to cut off and throttle flow within pipelines. The opening and closing component is a disc-shaped butterfly plate that rotates around its own axis inside the valve body to achieve opening, closing, or regulation.

It is suitable for industries such as urban water supply, heating, air conditioning, metallurgy, chemical, and environmental protection, mainly functioning to cut off and throttle flow in pipelines.
