A tide gate is a facility installed at the outlet of drainage pipes and channels to prevent tidal backflow, primarily used in coastal and riverside cities, as well as areas susceptible to tidal influence.
Structural Types
Multi-leaf folding type: Utilizes a gravity closure design, achieving bidirectional sealing through a multi-leaf stepped sealing structure to prevent the escape of harmful gases and the intrusion of insects.
Float ball type: Features a hollow spherical structure that automatically opens or closes via buoyancy, suitable for drainage outlets along rivers. It closes under its own weight during low tide and is pushed open by tidal pressure during high tide.
Flap gate type: Operates automatically through water flow pressure and gravity, available in both circular and square shapes, commonly found at municipal drainage pipe outlets.
Functions and Applications
Backflow prevention: Automatically closes during high tide to prevent river or seawater from flowing back into drainage pipes and channels, and opens during low tide to allow drainage.
Sealing performance: Employs wedge-shaped sealing components and rubber waterstop belts to ensure effective water retention.
Maintenance standards: Requires annual inspection and anti-corrosion treatment (such as sandblasting for rust removal and thermal spray galvanizing), complying with the national standard GB44170.
