Synthesis lines:

The standard synthesis method for 1,2-di (2-chloroethoxy) ethane is as follows:

Mix triethylene glycol (0.28 mol) with pyridine (49 mL, 0.61 mol) in benzene (250 mL) in a dry reaction flask.

Heat the mixture to reflux state.

Slowly add dichlorosulfoxide (0.61 mol) dropwise for about 3 hours.

After the dropwise addition is complete, continue to reflux and stir for 16 hours.

After the reaction is complete, cool to room temperature and slowly add dilute hydrochloric acid (6.3 mL, 11.8 M, dissolved in 50 mL of water) to quench the reaction.

Separate the upper benzene layer, concentrate under reduced pressure to remove benzene, and obtain the target product
