Used mainly in

•Pharmaceutical intermediates: used for synthesizing sulfonamide antibiotics (such as sulfasalazine), analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs (such as piroxicam, lornoxicam), etc.

•Dye intermediates: Azo dyes can be prepared through diazotization reaction.

Analytical reagents: used for microcrystal analysis to find out metal ions such as antimony, bismuth, cobalt, copper, gold, and zinc.

• Organic synthesis: as a universal intermediate for constructing pyridine ring structures, used in the research and development of drugs, functional materials, etc

Synthesis lines:

The common synthesis methods of 2-aminopyridine include:

1. Classic Sodium Amino Method

In the presence of a solvent, sodium amide (NaNH ₂) reacts with pyridine to form a sodium derivative of aminopyridine, which is then hydrolyzed to obtain free 2-aminopyridine. Hydrogen gas escapes during the reaction.

2. Preparation from 2-OP distillation residue (newer method)

Using zeolite or silica gel impregnated with phosphoric acid as a catalyst, catalytic cracking and vacuum distillation of the 2-OP distillation residue are carried out at 240-400 ° C and 0.01-0.1 MPa to obtain a distillate containing pyridine-2-carboxamide.

The crude product of pyridine-2-carboxamide was obtained by cooling and crystallizing the distillate.

Mix the crude product with NaOH aqueous solution, cool it in an ice bath to 0-5 ° C, add NaClO solution (active chlorine about 5%) dropwise, and then heat it up to 75-80 ° C for about 1.5 hours to complete the oxidative dehydrogenation and generate 2-aminopyridine.
