Synthesis lines:

The main industrial synthesis methods of furfuric acid are as follows:

1. Sugar aldehyde air oxidation method (most commonly used)

At 45 ℃, sugar aldehydes are oxidized using copper oxide as a catalyst by introducing air.

After the reaction, filter and recover the catalyst, and acidify the filtrate with 50% sulfuric acid to pH 2.5-3.

After filtration, washing with water, and drying, furfural acid 23 is obtained.

2. Chemical oxidation method (alternative route)

In neutral or alkaline media, oxidize sugar aldehydes with sodium hypochlorite or potassium permanganate for about 2 hours.

Subsequently acidified with hydrochloric acid, the yield can reach 98%
