Jingzhou Shashi Dongfang Organic Chemical Research Institute, established in 1986, is a collective-owned specialized research institution in fine organic chemicals. It serves as the national patent technology support unit for the continuous production of trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite via the triethylamine method. The institute currently employs over ten staff members, with engineering and technical personnel accounting for 80%, including four senior engineers. It primarily engages in the research, development, production, and operation of organic fine chemical products, with research areas covering organic phosphorus series, pharmaceuticals and intermediates, fragrances and intermediates, dyes and intermediates, among others. Particularly, its technology in organic phosphorus pesticides and intermediates, as well as fragrances and intermediates, leads the industry nationwide.
Over the years, through the collective efforts of all employees, the institute has successfully developed patented production technologies for products such as the continuous production of trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite via the triethylamine method, high-purity O,O-dimethyl (ethyl) thiophosphoryl chloride (amine) via the trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite method, and high-purity chloral. Among these, the production technologies for continuous trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite via the triethylamine method and high-purity O,O-dimethyl (ethyl) thiophosphoryl chloride via the trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite method have been successfully applied in industrial production. Notably, the industrial application of the patented technology for high-purity O,O-dimethyl (ethyl) thiophosphoryl chloride via the trimethyl (ethyl) phosphite method has completely transformed the outdated production methods using thiophosphoryl chloride and phosphorus pentasulfide, which had been used domestically and internationally for many years. This innovation significantly improves product quality and yield while substantially reducing production consumption and pollution. The quality of O,O-dimethyl thiophosphoryl chloride and O,O-dimethyl thiophosphoramide produced with this patented technology reaches ≥99.0%, filling both domestic and international gaps for these products and solving a long-standing global challenge that had persisted for generations.
The recently developed production technology for high-purity chloral is also unique in China. This technology offers advantages such as high product quality (purity ≥99.5% by chromatography; water content ≤0.05% by Karl Fischer method) and high yield (yield exceeding 100%, based on the refinement of existing industrial-grade chloral). Using chloral of this quality as a raw material, whether for pharmaceutical or pesticide synthesis, can significantly enhance the quality of downstream products, reduce raw material consumption, and lower production costs.
